This Arimatsu Shibori yukata is perfect for festivals and summer sightseeing.
"Arimatsu Narumi Shibori" has been produced in the Arimatsu-Narumi district of Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture, since the Edo period.
Shibori dyeing can express a variety of patterns depending on how the fabric is tied, sewn, and pleated.
It is said that there are over 100 types of "tying" techniques, and about 70 types are still passed down as traditional skills today.
This diverse pattern expression is one of the charms of Arimatsu Shibori.
This yukata is a stylish piece with a fashionable gradient dye of pale mint green and bright indigo blue.
The mint green part features shibori in the shape of orange and yellow roses, while the indigo blue part has Kanoko shibori.
The indigo blue section creates a vertical line, which seems to have the effect of making the wearer appear slender.
There are many sashes that can be paired with this yukata: a rose-colored sash, which is the opposite color of the yukata, gives a sweet impression; a green sash gives a refreshing impression; white or beige gives a light impression; and yellow or orange gives an energetic impression.
Another charm of shibori yukata is that it can be worn as a daytime kimono by pairing it with a nagajuban (under-kimono) and tabi (socks).
During the hot summer months, please wear it with items that help you stay cool, such as an usotsuki-juban (mock nagajuban) or lace tabi.
