This is a dragonfly bead obidome.
Dragonfly balls are glass beads with holes and colorful patterns.
It was a supreme treasure with a mysterious glow, used as an ornament for nobles and as a talisman to ward off evil.
In Japan, in the mid-Edo period, artisans who were fascinated by Dutch jade created beautiful beads with great skill and refinement, and these beads became widely known as "tombodama."
It is a dynamic design with a bright blue-purple (transition color) (see the Definitive Japanese Color Encyclopedia) and spiral patterns of white, green, and brown.
This is a casual obi fastener, and the width of the metal fitting is a little wide at 1.3 cm, so it will be more stable if you use a 4-quarter cord rather than a 3-quarter cord.
The yobun-himo is the same as the sanbun-himo, and is a special obi-jime for attaching an obi-dome.
It is thinner and finer than a normal obijime, and is also shorter in length.
Also, since there are no tassels on the ends, they do not get in the way when threading the obi-jime.
The combination of quarter-length obi cord and obidome is very convenient as it can be matched not only with kimono but also with yukata.
Enjoy wearing it with komon, tsumugi, or yukata.
