What kind of fabric can be used for summer kimonos and yukatas?

Hello, I'm Yukiwa!

Did you know that there is a fabric that can be used for both yukata and summer kimonos?

This may be a bit sudden, but do you know of any convenient fabrics that can be used for yukata and summer kimonos?

There may be many different types if you look, but one of the items we carry in our shop is Awa Shijira weaving .

What is Awa Shijira weaving?

"Awa Shijira weaving" is designated as an intangible cultural property of Tokushima Prefecture .

It has an uneven surface, which means it doesn't stick to the skin and is well ventilated.

It is a light and cool fabric, perfect for summer, and extremely popular for summer kimonos.

The charm and style of Awa Shijira weaving

The appeal of summer kimono

It basically falls into the category of summer kimono , but since it is almost opaque, it can also be worn as a single-layer kimono .

Can also be used as a yukata

In midsummer, it is also recommended to wear it as a yukata without an undergarment .

It's a fabric with great cost performance because it can be worn for a long time and has a wide range of uses.

It can be washed at home, making it ideal for everyday wear.

Awa Shijira weave is as easy to care for as cotton.

  • Hand washable
  • You can also put it in a laundry net and use the "hand wash" mode on your washing machine.

There's no doubt that you'll be wearing this kimono more and more as an everyday item!

Highly recommended because of its versatile look

It's difficult to own a lot of kimonos, but it's really helpful to have one that you can wear in many different ways .

*Some people may say, "It's not OK to wear it as a yukata!", but please understand that it is a freedom to enjoy reused kimonos .

When should I prepare?

The season for single layered clothing begins in June .

If you ask a kimono shop to tailor it, the delivery time will be about one and a half months .

That means… we recommend you start looking in early April !
