This might be sudden, but are you aware of a convenient fabric that can be used for both a yukata and a summer kimono?
While there may be many options if you look, one that we carry in our shop is Awa Shijira-ori.
What is Awa Shijira-ori?
"Awa Shijira-ori" is a traditional textile representing Tokushima Prefecture, and it is designated as a Prefectural Intangible Cultural Property.
It features a textured surface (known as "shibo") that prevents the fabric from sticking to the skin, making it highly breathable.
Lightweight and cool, it is truly a fabric suited for summer. It is very popular as a summer kimono.

The Appeal as a Summer Kimono
While it technically falls under the category of a summer kimono, versions with little transparency can also be enjoyed as an hitoe (unlined) kimono.
Transparency varies depending on the fabric, color, and pattern, so please enjoy styling it and choosing when to wear it while checking the actual feel of the fabric.
Can also be worn as a yukata
In the height of summer, we also recommend wearing it as a yukata without a juban (undergarment).
It is a highly cost-effective fabric because it can be worn for a long period and for a variety of purposes.

When should you prepare?
A general guideline for the hitoe (unlined) season is from around June.
However, in recent years, an increasing number of people are adjusting their wearing schedule according to the climate, region, and daily temperature.
If you are having one tailored, it can take some time, so if you have a specific time you want to wear it, we recommend starting your search with plenty of time to spare!
