This Arimatsu Shibori yukata is perfect for festivals and summer tourist spots.
"Arimatsu Narumi Shibori" has been produced in the Arimatsu-Narumi area of Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture, since the Edo period.
Shibori dyeing can express a wide variety of patterns depending on how the fabric is tied, sewn, and pleated.
It is said that there are over 100 types of "tie-dyeing" methods, and currently, about 70 types are still being passed down as traditional techniques.
This diversity in pattern expression is one of the charms of Arimatsu Shibori.
This yukata features a vibrant pattern, primarily in white, tie-dyed on a navy blue background.
The pattern, which can be seen as either floral or snowflakes, also includes areas dyed in pink and yellow.
For a sleek look, pair it with a simple ecru or white obi, and add an obi-dome (sash clip) or decorative cord as a pop of color.
For a more vibrant look, choose an energetic orange or yellow obi and accessories. Adding light blue or green shades will enhance the freshness, allowing you to enjoy a different coordination.
Another charm of shibori yukata is that it can be worn as a daytime kimono by pairing it with a nagajuban (undergarment) and tabi socks.
During the hot summer months, please wear it with items that help you stay cool, such as an usotsuki-juban (mock nagajuban) or lace tabi.
