Features and Condition of the Yukata | New Kimono
This is an Arimatsu Shibori yukata that can be worn to festivals and summer tourist spots.
"Arimatsu Narumi Shibori" has been produced in the Arimatsu-Narumi area of Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, since the Edo period.
Shibori dyeing can express a wide variety of patterns by how the fabric is tied, sewn, and pleated.
There are said to be over 100 types of "tying" techniques, and about 70 of them are still passed down today.
This diverse pattern expression is one of the charms of Arimatsu Shibori.
This yukata features a dark navy base with a floral pattern and Kanoko shibori mainly in white. Some parts of the floral pattern are dyed in a pale yellow instead of white.
The flowing floral lines also seem to have the effect of making you look neat and slender.
Speaking of navy yukata, a convenient feature is that you can pair it with any color obi you own. A dark obi of the same color might be a little difficult to coordinate, but if you want a cute look, choose red or pink. If you want to create a more sophisticated look, choose blue, green, or beige. Please choose your favorite obi according to the atmosphere you want to create.
Another charm of shibori yukata is that it can also be worn as a daytime kimono by pairing it with a nagajuban (undergarment) and tabi socks.
During the hot summer, please wear it with items that help you stay cool, such as an usotsuki-juban (mock juban) or lace tabi socks.
