This is a chic small pattern cloth with a lucky scale pattern that wards off evil, made from 100% silk.
The base color is a purplish gray (light purple) (see the definitive Japanese color dictionary). On top of that, a pinkish dull purple (Kyoto wisteria) (see the definitive Japanese color dictionary) is dyed with a scale pattern, which is said to ward off evil spirits.
The fabric called "ro chirimen" combines a sheer weaving technique called rome with a textured crepe fabric.
The original rules for kimono may have changed a little, but in climate conditions that have changed since the old days, it is fair to say that this kimono can be worn from the end of the rainy season in late June through the summer months of July and August.
This is a perfect piece for everyday wear that can be paired with a variety of obi, such as a half-width obi, Nagoya obi, or a casual fukuro obi.
