Characteristics and condition of Fukuro Obi | New Fukuro Obi
This product is an untailored obi belt made by Nishijin "Kyoto Ishihara" and mother-of-pearl artist "Fujimoto Takashi" that can be used for formal occasions.
The black obi fabric is woven with white and silver threads to create a floral arabesque pattern using shiny purple foil threads and pearl foil. The obi drum part is decorated with gold leaf and mother-of-pearl, giving it a gorgeous and luxurious feel.
Compared to the gorgeousness of gold and silver foil, pearl leaf is a lustrous foil that combines elegance and delicacy.
Raden work is a decoration technique in which the mother-of-pearl parts of turban shells or abalone shells are polished with a whetstone, cut to a uniform thickness, and then pasted or inlaid. This decoration method takes advantage of the fact that the shells shine beautifully in white or blue depending on how the light hits them. It is one of the most beautiful of traditional crafts.
Please wear it with kimonos such as Homongi, Tsukesage, Iromuji, and Tsumugi.
