Characteristics and Condition of Nagoya Obi | Used and Recycled Nagoya Obi
This Nagoya obi is recommended for semi-formal coordinates.
The ground features a dark, subdued yellow-green (aoniiro) (refer to Teihon Wagami Jiten) with a shiba-kusa (grass) pattern, and the gentle golden glow from within gives it a very elegant feel.
The patterns are strategically placed, with a scene from The Tale of Genji depicted on the taiko (drum) part, lavishly embroidered with Suzhou embroidery.
The pattern on the front belly area is mainly floral. This design also makes extensive use of Suzhou embroidery.
It is an open-ended obi. There is a faint crease from being folded in half from the tesaki (hand-end) to the maebara (front belly), but it is not very noticeable, so I believe it can be adjusted in width to suit your height.
This item feels relatively substantial in weight.
Please coordinate it with iromuji (solid-color kimonos), komon (small-patterned kimonos), or light tsukesage (partially patterned kimonos).
As noted above, there are traces of wear around the waist, but otherwise, no noticeable stains or dirt are found, making it perfectly usable as a recycled item.
