Nagoya Obi Characteristics and Condition | Brand New Nagoya Obi
This Nagoya obi is made from authentic Chikuzen Hakata weave and is recommended for casual occasions.
This item is from the "Hakata Gorgeous" series, produced by the Hakata Weaving Cooperative and Inoue Silk Weaving.
Hakata-ori has many fans who are fascinated by its comfortable fit, which means that once you tighten it, it doesn't come loose, and the squeaking sound of the silk when you tighten it is very pleasant.
The main color here is a slightly purplish blue (deep bellflower color) (see the Definitive Japanese Color Dictionary).
It has a very modern impression with clean vertical stripes, a pattern resembling Shippo Tsunagi, and Chinese floral patterns.
It is a stylish pattern, different from the Kenjo pattern that is synonymous with Hakata obi.
The material is over 90% silk, with less than 10% polyester and unclassified fibers (paper) (metallic thread-like).
The pattern runs all the way through the garment and is made in a pine needle style, so the width can be adjusted to suit your height.
It is made without a lining, so one of its charms is that it is thin and light.
The drum-shaped part has fabric that is folded over at the end, making it double-layered and sturdy.
Enjoy coordinating it with cotton kimonos, tsumugi, komon, and iro-muji kimonos.
