This Nagoya obi from Tatsumura Bijutsu is recommended for semi-formal occasions.
The vermilion (beni touiro) (see the definitive Japanese color dictionary) background is woven with a pattern by Itoya Rinpo-te, giving it a stylish feel.
It is an open-fitting garment with a full-length pattern. The drum part is a hidden placket.
This item is made with the "hiyoku" (double-breasted) technique, which creates a dignified beauty that at first glance resembles a layered obi. Hiyoku is a technique in which an additional piece of fabric is layered on the inside of the obi, creating the illusion of a second obi being worn underneath. This enhances the appearance of elegance and dignity, while maintaining a light feel when worn.
Perfect for tea ceremonies, formal occasions, and casual outings, the simple yet sophisticated pattern makes it suitable for long-term wear, regardless of age or season.
