Characteristics and condition of obijime | New obijime
This is an obi-jime that goes well with formal obi.
The pattern is called "Kainokuchi Striped Yugen Dye" by Hirata Kumihimo, a long-established Edo Kumihimo manufacturer.
All Hirata Kumihimo obijime belts are made using 100% domestic Gunma 200 raw silk, and each kumihimo craftsman is expected to make only one piece in his lifetime, with only the same pattern ever being produced.
The main color is a deep black purple (purple-black) (see the Definitive Japanese Color Dictionary).
Make sure to tie it so that the side with the brown to ochre blur is on the left side.
Another thing that makes it easy to use is that even the tassels are assembled.
Since it is made with a thick gold thread, it can be worn with formal kimono such as a Homongi, Tsukesage, or Iromuji.
As this is a new used item, there are no stains or dirt and it is perfectly wearable, but it has a slight moldy smell, probably due to it having been stored for a long time.
