Features and Condition of the Hanhaba Obi | Second-hand/Recycled Hanhaba Obi
This polyester hanhaba (half-width) obi is recommended for casual outfits during the lined (awase) and unlined (hitoe) kimono seasons.
It features flowing water patterns in a bright beige tone on a black base, along with brownish ginkgo-like leaves.
The contrast between the base color and the pattern is beautiful, giving the piece a mature impression.
The pine needles scattered throughout are a deep, muted green.
The reverse side is a lighter shade of green (sasa-iro/bamboo leaf color) based on the "Teihon Wa no Iro Jiten" (Standard Dictionary of Japanese Colors).
It features a subtle background pattern of cherry blossom petals.
Since the impression of the two sides is quite different, this is a convenient piece that allows for two styling patterns with just one obi.
Beautiful green obis are quite rare, so many of you may be looking for one.
Please enjoy pairing it with iromuji, komon, or tsumugi kimonos.
The machine stitching on both sides of the obi, especially on the green side, is slightly noticeable.
