I've been spinning some yarn for a bit.
Hello, I'm Yukiwa!
I did a little spinning this past weekend!
It happened to be held at a park where I went with my child.
"Cotton ginning and spinning experience"
As a parent involved with kimono, I don't want to miss this opportunity.
First, cotton seeds. It was my son's first time seeing them.
"It's so fluffy and feels so good."
This is put into a cotton gin and separated into seeds and fibers.
As you spin it around, the seeds will remain at the front.
This is the fluffy cotton that was created.
After this, use something like a brush to fluff the cotton.
Remove the seed husks and leaf debris (this is called "cotton beating").
Using a spinning wheel, the cotton is spun into fine threads.
This is quite difficult...
Maybe the cotton wasn't spun enough, but it didn't become a fine thread.
This is also a good memory ☆
From here, the fabric is dyed and woven into cloth.
These are then made into kimonos and obi.
When you understand the process of making something, you'll feel even more attached to it.
It seems that "cotton spinning and thread spinning experience" is being held in various places.
If you have the opportunity, please give it a try.
