Nagoya Obi Features and Conditions | Second-hand and Recycled Nagoya Obi
This is a Nagoya obi with rip-woven pattern, recommended for casual outfits.
This obi has a warm and gentle atmosphere, with a brown (kuriiro) base color (see the Definitive Japanese Color Dictionary) and a cute owl pattern as a highlight.
The technique used for the fabric of this obi is called Sakiori.
To make a Sakiori Nagoya obi, all you need is a silk kimono or haori coat. The finished kimono is first unstitched, turned back into cloth, and torn into strips 5-6 mm wide with scissors, which are then spun into one long thread, which is then used as the weft to weave the Sakiori obi.
The white part with the owl on it is woven with washi paper.
This obi, which took a lot of effort to make, goes perfectly with komon and tsumugi.
It is very flexible, easy to tie, and does not wrinkle easily, so it is recommended not only for the Taiko knot, but also for alternative knots such as the Ginza knot.
There are no stains or dirt, so it is perfectly wearable and can be reused.
The colour is closest to what you see in the overall photo, but it may vary slightly depending on the device you are using.
