Nagoya Obi Features and Conditions | Second-hand and Recycled Nagoya Obi
This Nagoya obi is made by Tatsumura Art Weaving Co., Ltd. and features a lion-hunting motif woven into it.
The national treasure "Shishigari Motif Nishiki" (Lion Hunting Pattern Nishiki), which is a handed down at Horyuji Temple, is also called "Shitenno Mon Banner Nishiki." This is a variation of that design, woven with a new composition.
Because it is a prestigious pattern, it is made with a ``hidden placket'', which is rare among Nagoya obi.
Hiyoku style (double drum hiyoku style) is a style of tailoring in which only both ends of the drum part are finished in double layers, so that when tied, the drum part of the Nagoya obi looks like the double drum of a fukuro obi.
With this tailoring, even though it is a Nagoya obi, it can be worn with casual everyday kimonos such as tsumugi, komon, and plain-colored kimonos, and even with tsukesage kimonos.
The pattern runs throughout and the obi is open, so it can be tied in the same way as a fukuro obi, and it also has the advantage of being easy to put away.
It is in good condition with no stains and can be worn as a reused item.
As stated on the tag on the back of the obi, it is woven from 100% silk.
