This is a fukuro obi (sash) made by Tei Kobo, recommended for casual wear.
The pattern of flowers and birds is woven on a purple (light purple) background (see the Definitive Japanese Color Dictionary). The calm and gentle color scheme is very appealing.
Weaving studio Kanae is a manufacturer in Nishijin, Kyoto that mainly produces obi (belts) made from vertical brocade.
At Kanae, we believe that the quality of the thread determines the quality of the product, and for the warp threads we use 100% A5 rank Brataku thread, which is said to be the world's finest silk thread.
Speaking of tsutsugi, it slides well vertically and barely moves horizontally. In other words, it is easy to tighten the obi and it is hard to come undone once tied. It is one of the most useful obi for kimono lovers.
