This product is a Kyoto Bingata Nagoya obi, recommended for casual occasions.
The white background is dyed with a Saaya pattern, on which bamboo, plum and peony flowers are scattered.
The very vivid and colorful color scheme is one of the charms of Kyo Bingata.
Kyo Bingata is a stencil dyeing technique that incorporates Kyo Yuzen dyeing techniques, and is said to have begun when the first generation Kuriyama Kichisaburo fused Okinawa's traditional stencil dyeing technique "Bingata" with "Kyoto Yuzen", a style representative of Kyoto.
This obi has colorful patterns on the drum and front belly areas, and the other areas are dyed in vermilion.
In addition, the end of the hanging part and the first part that wraps around the torso are dyed solid navy blue, giving it a neat and tidy look.
It is made in Nagoya, is of a moderate stiffness and seems easy to tie, so it is recommended for those new to kimono dressing.
