Nagoya Obi Features and Conditions | Second-hand and Recycled Nagoya Obi
This product is a Nagoya obi made by Yuya Orimono in Tokamachi City, Niigata Prefecture.
The pattern of the zodiac animals is folded up on a rich vermilion (deep scarlet) background (see the Definitive Japanese Color Dictionary).
The zodiac sashes are very stylish, as they incorporate kanji characters, illustrations, votive plaques, kites, and more.
The deep, rich color would go very well with kimonos in slightly chilly seasons.
It's also nice to add the zodiac sign of the year with a netsuke or obi clasp.
Please wear it with small patterns, plain colors, tsumugi, etc.
This popular obi has just the right amount of tension and flexibility in the tsumugi fabric, making it very easy to tie.
It is longer than average for a Nagoya obi, and the pattern runs all the way through, so it is recommended not only for tying it in a drum knot, but also for making small arrangements.
