This product is a bag-shaped obi made by Living National Treasure Nakamura Yujiro.
Nakamura, as an Ise Katagami carver of tool carving, was recognized in 1955 as the first Living National Treasure, a holder of a nationally important intangible cultural property technique, along with Nanbu Yoshimatsu of thrust carving and the first generation Rokutani Baiken of kiri carving.
This obi was made using fabric dyed with Nakamura's Ise Kata technique, using a technique called kiribame, in which a cut is made in one piece of fabric and another piece is fitted in its place.
This is a very elegant obi with a cream (Unohana color) (see the Definitive Japanese Color Dictionary) background and a accent pattern of chrysanthemums dyed in deep green, mustard green, and purple.
It can be worn in a wide range of situations, with stylish formal kimonos such as Homongi and Tsukesage, as well as everyday kimonos such as plain-colored kimonos, small patterns, and tsumugi.
There is a slight stain between the taiko patterns. It is very hard to see, but please check before purchasing.
Other than that, there are no stains or dirt, and it is perfectly wearable as a reused item.
The colour is closest to what you see in the overall photo, but it may vary slightly depending on the device you are using.
